HOW TO TAKE YOUR MEASURES?

For a mural in stock

The height of the mural should be slightly taller than the height of the wall to cover. Most murals in stock are 8 to 9 feet tall. Also take into account any crown moulding or baseboards (these will not be covered). If the selected mural is much larger than the wall, you will have to choose what part of the image to cut, depending on the image. If the mural is much smaller than the wall, you can always center it and add mouldings to give it a “framed” effect. The same principles apply to the mural’s width. If it is much wider than the wall, you will need to decide what end to cut off and what part should remain. It is often more economical to cut a mural in stock than to have it made to measure.

For a made-to-measure mural

Image selection is most important. Ideally, avoid images with large constant expanses, such as an empty sky, as the joints will be more visible.

In terms of measurement, first we need the height of the wall to cover excluding baseboards). As for width, we always print in 18-inch widths. Therefore you must calculate the desired width in 18-inch increments, and use the larger number of panels required to ensure there is excess. It is possible to print for uneven surfaces, such as stairways, but the calculation is the same and there will obviously be significantly more waste.
